As a resident of St Kilda, like many others in our community, I rely heavily on the services provided by our local post office. The St Kilda South Post Office is not just a place to send and receive mail; it's an integral part of our community that supports local businesses and connects us with the world. 

The proposed closure of this critical service is deeply concerning.

Alternative solutions have been suggested but they simply do not meet the needs of our diverse community. Many residents, particularly those who are elderly or have mobility issues, will struggle to access postal services if they are relocated.

Moreover, local businesses depend on this post office for their operations. According to Australia Post’s own data from 2019-2020, small businesses account for over 35% of all parcels sent through their network (Source: Australia Post Annual Report). The closure would undoubtedly negatively impact these businesses in what are already trying and uncertain economic times. 

We urge the responsible authorities to reconsider this decision and keep the St Kilda South Post Office open. It's more than just a post office; it's a lifeline for many in our community.
