Stop the Pavilion Ban!! Allow Our Children to Play in the Fields.

The Issue

Dear Somerdale Pavillion Trust,

We, the undersigned, urge you to seriously consider our request to grant children access to your fields for free play. You can create a healthier and happier community while contributing positively to your business's growth.

We are deeply concerned at your recent social media post underling the necessity to "Keep of your land", and are writing to express our horror at your decision to prevent our children from using the fields when they are not being used by paying groups and teams. Our sincere request is for you to re-think your position and to allow children to play on your fields for play, sports and leisure activities. We believe that granting access to your facilities for young individuals will not only bring countless benefits to the children themselves but also to your business in the longer term.

Firstly, opening up your fields to children will significantly contribute to their physical and mental well-being. You can help play a crucial role in promoting a healthy lifestyle for the younger generation. You have the power to encourage children to be more physically active, thereby reducing the risk of obesity and associated health issues. Physical activities also improve children's cardiovascular health, muscle strength, and coordination.

Furthermore, engaging children in sports and leisure activities on your fields can have a positive impact on their social skills. Team sports, in particular, instill valuable life lessons such as teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship. By allowing them to play together, you are promoting a sense of community and belonging among the youth, reinforcing the values that our society really needs and sadly you yourselves seem to be sadly lacking.

From a business perspective, allowing children to play on your fields can be helpful to you too:

Increased Footfall: As children and their families use your fields, there will be an increase in foot traffic to your otherwise, often, empty bars and cafe. This, in turn, presents an opportunity to showcase your other activities and potentially attract new customers.

Positive Public Relations: Embracing the local community's needs and promoting a healthy lifestyle for children will help your business's reputation. Positive word-of-mouth and community support can do wonders for any business and I think your "Private Land - Keep off" really negatively effects you, as seen on the community page.

Future Customers: By establishing a connection with children at an early age, you are building a potential customer base for years to come. Families who understand your support for children's activities are more likely to choose your business when planning their own leisure pursuits.

Diversification of Revenue: Enabling children to use your fields for recreational purposes opens up new avenues for generating revenue. You can explore offering youth sports programs, more birthday parties, or other child-centred events. Why would you encourage the community with festival events and completely alienate them by taking away their children's right to play?

Thank you for taking the time to review this petition. We look forward to your favourable response and the opportunity to collaborate for the improvements for our community and your business.
