Growing up on the Eastern Shore, our community has always been a haven of farmland and natural beauty. We cherish our country roots, our sprawling landscapes, and the wildlife that finds its home amidst our fields. However, the proposed construction of a solar farm within the city limits of Berlin, MD, threatens to drastically alter our cherished environment and lifestyle.

This planned solar panel farm, spanning over 100 acres, is set to encroach upon the tranquil homes of local families, coming within a mere 20 feet of their residences.  Such proximity not only poses a threat to the property value of countless homes but also disrupts the rural charm that our town is renowned for. Moreover, there's no concrete evidence showing that this development will provide direct benefits to the families in Berlin. 

The Eastern Shore is a unique place, known for its picturesque landscapes and abundant wildlife. By allowing this massive solar farm to dominate our land, we are endangering the future of our community’s identity and the delicate balance of our ecosystem. The impact on the animals that rely on this land for food and habitat cannot be underestimated.

We understand the need for sustainable energy solutions, but they should not come at the cost of our heritage and environment. There are alternative locations for such projects that do not infringe upon residential areas or clear our precious farmland and build near our wetlands.
