“The best things in life are free, but sooner or later the government will find a way to tax them.” -Anonymous
The way you file your taxes is changing. And if we don’t act now, it is going to cost you money.
For years, the deal has been simple for many. You earn money, owe tax, log onto the government website, file your return for free, and pay what you owe.
But from April 2026, HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) is breaking that deal, and the promises made when the policy was first announced in 2015. Welcome to Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD ITSA).
They are turning off the free online tax return portal for millions of self-employed people and landlords, not providing the software filing tools and spreadsheet bridging software.
