TONIGHT Town of Rochester Board meeting at 6:30 - please join us!
Hello all and welcome to our new signers!
Hopefully everyone has seen our new lawn signs up and checked out the new website: stopshawangunkcelltower.org. Please spread the word! Also please join us TONIGHT at 6:30pm at the Town of Rochester Town Board meeting where the cell tower will be discussed and I will be presenting this petition along with other residents during the public comment portion of the meeting. We would very much appreciate having you join us! You can make a public comment or just come to be in support. This will be the last public meeting before the end of the comment period and Planning Board meeting on June 8th where they will likely vote.
*The Town Board meeting tonight - Thursday May 28th - is at 6:30pm at the Harold Lipton Community Center 15 Tobacco Road Accord, NY 12404 (around the corner from the Accord Market and Firehouse). *
We are doing all that we can right now to get the Town of Rochester Planning Board to do a full environmental and socio-economic study on the impacts this cell tower will have on our community and the sensitive ecological habitat of the Shawangunk Ridge. The study called an Environmental Impact Statement is part of the State Environmental Quality Review Act (read more about it here: https://www.stopshawangunkcelltower.org/legal-framework). This petition serves as a public comment asking the Planning Board to do an Environmental Impact Study and we are asking the elected members of the Town Board to weigh in with the Planning Board as well in calling for them to do an Environmental Impact Statement. The Planning Board will meet on June 8 and most likely make a decision at that meeting how to proceed. It's all hands on deck now! Please help us now to stop this or we will all be looking at this ugly and unnecessary cell tower in our pristine viewshed so that a multi-billion dollar corporation can make more money!
Thanks!
Julia
