We wanted to share a quick update that highlights another real, tangible impact Save Windermere is having in protecting the lake and its surrounding rivers.
You may recall we challenged the Environment Agency in a BBC article, pointing out that the real-time monitor (SONDE) on Cunsey Beck was incorrectly placed. While the EA initially said they were “always happy to listen”, but were “confident that the monitors had been placed correctly”, we pushed for it to be moved to a more appropriate site.
Just three months later, the EA has now repositioned the SONDE – exactly where we said it should be.

This is yet another clear example of how Save Windermere is driving real, on-the-ground change – holding both the regulator and the water company accountable for their ongoing disregard for the lakes and rivers around Windermere. It also raises serious questions about the reliability of historical data collected in the area and further strengthens our core demand: an end to sewage pollution in Windermere.
