Jessica Harris started this petition to Mr. Wong and

Although the production of foie gras is banned in Australia, many restaurants and shops still sell it to customers, despite the unimaginable cruelty in which hundreds of thousands of ducks and geese are subjected to in the making of foie gras.

When foie gras is made, a long metal tube is forced down the throat of the bird, up to three times a day, and grain is forced into their stomach. This force-feeding process often results in sever throat damage. The birds are fed far more than they would naturally consume, and as a result the liver becomes severely enlarged and diseased. This is excruciatingly painful for the bird. Eventually it gets to the point that the liver is so fatty it can barely function. At the end of their lives, when they are already so diseased and can barely move or breathe, they are kept in cages so small they would be considered illegal for chickens in egg farms in several countries.

It's so important that we do whatever we can to help get foie gras off Australian shelves and menus, and the only way we can do it is if we get restaurants to stop supporting the importation of foie gras by selling it to their customers.
