The Issue

The ‘Little Park’ at the junction of Beech Street and Water Street in Great Harwood has been a cherished  public open green space for countless families for over 100 years. For three generations, it  has provided a safe and vibrant place in an urban environment.

Now, we face the prospect of losing this invaluable public open space to building development.  The potential sale threatens to create more urban areas with green spaces becoming less and less in our town,  so, preserving the ‘Little Park’ is more crucial than ever.

One year ago, the Government gave the Council £450,000 to develop green spaces in Great Harwood because they significantly enhance the quality of life in urban areas. According to Public Health England, access to green spaces is associated with better health outcomes.

We ask the Council to cancel the proposed sale and explore alternative development sites that do not compromise our heritage and green space.  Allow the ‘Little Park’ to continue to serve current and future generations.

Join is in our fight to stop the sale of the Little Park and secure its future as a place of recreation and relaxation.

Please sign this petition and make your voice heard.  Together, we can make a difference and protect our cherished open space.

Thank you
