Knowl house was gifted to mirfield to be used for children. Kirklees council now want to get rid of this lovely old building because they have failed to invest into it.

They are also removing the family time team which is an essential service to parents of children in care and to the children in care. The family time team maintain a safe welcoming environment for children and their families to have time together. This is essential and for safeguarding reasons should not be moved out into the community as planned at present as 1 person alone can not protect and supervise the family time sessions. The children need a consistent place and people who are dedicated to helping the children have a safe and positive experience as well as a good and familiar environment. Social workers do not have the time to be supervising every contact with the amount of children they have to look after and their case loads. 
Kirklees has not put any plan in place and does not know what they will do at present. Foster carers and parents along with social workers have no idea how family time will work. The proposed closure of Knowl house is in March and the removal of the family time team is 20/01/2025
