UKRAINIAN CULTURAL CENTER UPDATE: HELP US FUND LEGAL ACTION TO STOP THE SALE & DEMOLITION.
Signatures Moved the Needle. Now Legal Action Begins.
Your support is already making a difference.
Thousands of signatures and public endorsements — from historian Serhii Plokhy (Harvard) to former President Viktor Yushchenko — have brought national attention to the threat facing the Ukrainian Cultural Center.
Thanks to this growing pressure:
- Media coverage has intensified
- Officials and institutions have started asking questions
- Conversations about alternatives have begun
But signatures alone won’t stop demolition. Your donation can.
Archbishop Daniel Zelinsky and the current leadership have already evicted the Ukrainian school and community organizations. They continue to ignore the community’s voice, bypass public input, and move forward with plans to sell, rezone, and demolish the community-built complex. We are closely monitoring public hearings, which have been postponed—possibly due to the pressure from our collective efforts.
Now we move to the next phase: legal defense.
We are launching a coordinated legal and public advocacy campaign to:
- Block the unauthorized sale
- Challenge rezoning and demolition
- Secure protection as a recognized historic and cultural landmark
- Propose transparent alternatives that return the Center to the community
This isn’t just about letting the building stand.
It’s about restoring its purpose — as a living, community-led hub of Ukrainian culture, education, and civic life. But first, we must defend it in court.
EVERY DOLLAR SUPPORTS OUR EFFORT!
Attorney fees, filings, expert consultations, public advocacy — all conducted with full financial transparency.

This is not just preservation.
It’s reclamation — of a place built by the Ukrainian people, for the Ukrainian people.
And we’re not done yet.
