Outrageous!!!

The Allan Government says it can't justify spending around $40 million to recommission Dhurringile Prison and increase prison capacity.

Yet the very same government oversaw the cancellation of the Commonwealth Games after taxpayers were left with a bill of more than $589 million—with the Victorian Auditor-General finding there was "no discernible benefit" from that expenditure.

Think about that.

❌ More than $589 million spent on a cancelled Games.

❌ Refusing to invest around $40 million to bring an existing prison back into service at a time when Victoria is facing growing pressure on prison capacity.

That's a difference of almost $550 million.

Victorians deserve to know why there was money for one of the biggest financial failures in our state's history, but not for infrastructure that already exists and could be used to help meet current correctional needs.

Good government is about priorities.

It's time for the Allan Government to explain why it can afford to waste hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars, yet refuses to invest a fraction of that amount in recommissioning Dhurringile Prison.
