Stop the Rwanda Flights

The Issue

When I served alongside the UK forces in Afghanistan, I thought the UK would always have my back. But rather than offer me safety, the UK Government sent me a letter saying I will be sent to Rwanda.

My work was praised by my RAF adviser who said I had “a meaningful and positive effect on the UK’s national security interests”.

My reward has been to be threatened with removal to Rwanda, a country the UK Supreme Court ruled is unsafe for me and anyone else seeking asylum.

Like me, any refugee sent to Rwanda faces a real risk of being sent back to danger in their country. Countries like Afghanistan, Yemen and Sudan.

I believe that you understand why people from across the world, in the worst situations, look to the UK for safety. People fleeing persecution, torture and war don’t need detention and forced removal - we need safe ways to apply for asylum.

I, along with millions of other people across this country know that this policy is cruel and wrong.

So I am calling on the Prime Minister to abandon the Rwanda plan and create safe, organised routes to claim asylum, once and for all.
