Stop the construction of the roundabout at Carmel Valley/Laureles Grade Road. This roundabout is going to drastically increase traffic on Carmel Valley road going east to west creating longer drive times for people who live in or commute to and from Carmel Valley. For example, people who live 45 or more minutes east of the village now have a possible extra ten minutes or so of traffic because of cars backed up at the roundabout. Another point to consider is people driving erratically through close by neighborhoods such as Miramonte and Rancho Fiesta Roads in attempt to bypass the backed up traffic. As a lifelong resident of Carmel Valley, I have also seen numerous wrecks where vehicles lose brakes and barrel through the intersection eventually hitting or going through the guardrail on the downhill side. With a roundabout as the new intersection, there will constantly be cars in the trajectory of a potential truck with failed brakes.
