Stop the round-up of Montgomery Pass Wild Horses July 8/26 URGENT
The Issue
The planned helicopter round-up of over 400 magnificent Montgomery Pass Wild Horses in California’s Eastern Sierras on July 8 is a catastrophic and inhumane event. Horses are brutalized by the helicopter roundup. Theyre all traumatized and many get trampled. This is foaling season. The little ones don’t stand a chance of surviving this horrific event. It is thee most brutalizing way to force these beautiful Wild Horses into confined spaces. From there theyre forced into trucks and sent to holding pens and then they get shipped off to an unspeakable demise.
These wild creatures have become part of our landscape and heritage. They symbolize a spirit of freedom and natural beauty that we have cherished for generations. The idea of them being herded away like disposable commodities is not just distressing; it’s enraging.
We need to ask ourselves whether economic motivations justify the trauma and suffering these horses will endure. They are part of an eco-system that has flourished alongside them for decades.
Furthermore, this round-up is a significant financial burden on taxpayers, unnecessarily costing millions of dollars and diverting funds from other crucial areas, especially in these challenging times.
The overpopulation claim by BLM is disputed by ecologists and local residents. The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) claims this action is needed, yet there are humane alternatives that have not been fully explored. Safe and effective fertility control measures like PZP vaccines can manage the population without resorting to traumatic captures. PZP is a wildlife conterceptive used succesfully on other BLM managed herds.
It's time for California to lead by example and practice humane, informed, and responsible land and animal management.
Join me in opposing this round-up and advocating for the ethical treatment of our Montgomery Wild Horses. Your voice matters, and we need it more than ever. We must act now before these beautiful animals are gone. Please sign this petition to halt this cruel practice and demand humane solutions. Together, let's ensure the Montgomery Wild Horses thrive in harmony with their environment indefinitely.
PLEASE SIGN NOW AND SHARE BEFORE JULY 8th. thank you
