Stop the riverside gravel pit

Stop the riverside gravel pit
The Issue
STOP the gravel pit next to the River Thames, between Cholsey, Wallingford and Crowmarsh.
In September 2024, Oxfordshire County Council refused the planning application by London Rock Supplies Ltd to extract gravel at White Cross Farm.
Now, London Rock has appealed the decision, and the final outcome will be decided at a Planning Inquiry in July 2025 - we need your support to help stop the gravel pit!!
We are calling on residents, nature lovers, and anyone who values our countryside to say NO to this damaging and unnecessary proposal.
We believe the gravel extraction would:
Cause unacceptable harm to the landscape, local ecology, and hydrology
Disrupt recreational use of the river and surrounding countryside
Rely on inadequate and intrusive mitigation plans
Ignore the fact that there is no proven need for gravel extraction at this site, and it does not align with Oxfordshire's Local Minerals Plan
There is already an active quarry nearby at New Barn Farm. Our community should not be burdened with another.
This area is precious. Let's protect it—for wildlife, for people, and for future generations.
📣 Sign this petition to show your opposition to the riverside gravel extraction.
