I have lived in Highland Blvd, Brooklyn, NY, for years, and I care deeply about my community. The recent decision to rezone our neighborhood to accommodate massive developments will have an adverse impact on our way of life. Cypress Hills, part of East New York, is a charming community characterized by its unique historical architecture and tight-knit residential feel. This is not just about property; it's about our home, heritage, and community identity.

The proposed rezoning threatens to disrupt our lives significantly. It involves constructing a massive 300-unit building in the heart of an area predominantly filled with one-family and two-family homes. This kind of abrupt and intense urban development will inevitably alter the neighborhood's make-up, creating a dense urban environment ill-fitted to our current suburban structure.

Such development will lead to increased traffic congestion, heightened noise levels, and constant construction, all of which contribute to increased pollution in our area. The tranquility and clean air that we cherish will be replaced by the chaos and detriment that large-scale development brings.

Moreover, the financial burden on property owners cannot be ignored. Rezoning often results in increased property taxes, making it difficult for current residents, especially low-income families and elder residents on fixed incomes, to afford to stay in their own homes. Our homes, many of which are over 100 years old, are more than just buildings; they are our heritage sites, representing our history and the stories of those who came before us.

In a time where community preservation should be pivotal, this proposed rezoning only threatens to demolish our history and identity. We urge city planners and officials to halt this rezoning initiative. Instead, we advocate for development plans that respect our heritage while considering sustainable and community-friendly growth.

Please join me in the fight to preserve our beloved Cypress Hills neighborhood. We need your support to protect our community from the disruption and disadvantages of this rezoning. Sign this petition to stand with us and make a difference.
