This petition is to stop the RESA project that is required of all third year teachers. This project has to be completed after a teacher has received a teaching license from the state of Ohio. It is a labor intensive project, and may require 100+ hours of the teacher's time. This is in addition to the normal evaluation process all teachers go through each year. The projects take six months to receive a grade on. If teachers fail this, regardless of their rating on the Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES), they must do it a second time. If a teacher fails the project a second time, a teacher loses their license for a year. Each project must be graded by a highly qualified teacher in the subject area of the teacher submitting the project. It is time to stop this! There is no reason for this extensive waste of resources. The lack of respect for the Teacher Education programs that all licensed teachers go through is huge! This is not a true reflection of a teacher.
