The National, Act and New Zealand First Government have said they will scrap the world-leading legislation banning the sale of cigarettes to future generations, reducing nicotine levels and the number of tobacco retailers.  

The reason for this is money and funding the promised tax cuts that they now can't deliver. ACT leader David Seymour has said that tobacco brings in about $1.8 billion of tax revenue every year. However health experts say the actual cost is thousands of lives. Further is the cost to our healthcare system that is caused by smoking.

There are warnings on the packets of cigarettes telling you this will kill you and clearly to this new government, money matters more than people.

Let’s use our people power to tell the new Prime Minister that our children deserve a smoke free New Zealand.
