Today at City Hall, Councillor Chris Moise deferred the Yonge-Dundas square renaming vote to tomorrow afternoon (June 27), likely to figure out a gameplan against growing popular sentiment that Council is off-side with the name change. The populace is now asserting their displeasure with all Councillors, and tomorrow’s vote will be under a microscope. We will be taking notes and scrutinizing each member's vote as various motions come up to facilitate the renaming.

Call to action! Let’s ramp up the pressure campaign and demand that these councillors STOP this wasteful nonsense that nobody wants. Yonge-Dundas is core to Toronto’s identity and legacy, and token renamings are a costly diversion from more pressing priorities. Please email your councillor and Mayor Chow today and let them know your displeasure. You can copy and paste the following if you wish:
Dear Councillor,
We, the people of Toronto demand that you immediately STOP the renaming of Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto. This is a shameful episode in our city’s history, and we have FAR more pressing problems to address. We will not tolerate this waste of resources and will be watching closely on June 27th to see how Council votes. We know the election is right around the corner in 2026. We trust you will restore trust and integrity at City Hall and abandon this ill-advised initiative. There are FAR better ways to honour Black Canadians and other heroes of our city than paving over legendary names like Dundas! Thank you.
