Thank you all very much for your support. Over 2,500 people have signed the petition since it was started 10 days ago, more than the leading candidate received in the most recent Ukiah City Council election (2024). About two-thirds have come from the 95482 zip code; most of the rest have come from nearby communities. This is both a local and regional issue, even though the final decision-makers will be the Ukiah City Council. The City is reportedly consulting with an arborist to determine what trees can be saved while still meeting the Project goals. For more information on the Project, go to https://ghd.mysocialpinpoint.com/school-street-corridor-study/home/

The above webpage shows that the City plans its final "community and stakeholder engagement" in December, with a final decision to follow. No specific dates have been set yet. I will submit the Petition and signatures-to-date this week, hopefully when it tops 3,000, with more submissions up to decision time. Some of you have contributed via change.org to get more signatures. We have now reached the point of diminishing returns for such contributions, as it only reaches people who are already signed up for change.org. Most of our signers come from Facebook (43%) and Instagram (32%) (full stats below). If you are so inclined, please consider sharing the Petition link on those sites or other social media. https://c.org/5KfY7wjf86

On behalf of the trees, and the critters/people who enjoy them, thank you again for your outpouring of support.

Dennis O'Brien
