The Issue

Olusegun and his family have become cherished members of the Dromahair community in County Leitrim, Ireland. Over the past year, they have built a life here, creating friendships, establishing a sense of belonging, and their children are thriving in the local school. Olusegun even has his own column in a local newspaper.

Olusegun is also a volunteer with Foroige, and was instrumental in getting that service restarted in Dromahair, which has been appreciated by so many families here.

However, his family has been abruptly informed of their imminent reassignment from the asylum center in Dromahair to Athlone, with only three days' notice. This sudden upheaval has been triggered by a minor dispute deemed insignificant by local gardai, yet it threatens to dismantle the stability and support network they have cultivated, and highlights the cruelty of the IPAS system.

This reassignment not only disrupts their lives but also has a profound impact on the community that has welcomed them. Their children are being uprooted from their school mid-semester, a move that can significantly affect their education and well-being.

It's crucial for Olusegun and his family to remain in Dromahair, where they have found a haven. We urge the relevant authorities to review the case thoroughly, taking into account the family's connections and contributions to the community.

This petition seeks your support to appeal this decision, allowing Olusegun and his family to stay in Dromahair and continue to contribute positively to our community. With your help, we can ensure that this family's journey towards stability is not disrupted due to an administrative oversight. Please sign this petition to help keep Olusegun and his family in Dromahair.
