Many families have chosen to make our home in this peaceful residential area of Pancras Rd, nestled in the woods, surrounded by nature and tranquility along the creek. Our community has thrived with families raising their children in this serene environment, cultivating our land to produce food, and nurturing livestock. However, the proposed development of a rock quarry on Pancras Road threatens to disrupt and destroy this harmonious way of life.

This rock quarry poses not only a disruption to our tranquil existence but introduces significant and potentially catastrophic dangers to the safety and health of our community. The property is situated on a gas pipeline, and the industrial activities of a rock quarry could lead to deadly consequences. The vibrations and disturbances caused by quarrying activities could damage the pipeline infrastructure, resulting in gas leaks, explosions, and a significant loss of life.

The rock quarry will significantly increase the traffic on Pancras Rd from dump trucks as well as trains due to the expected increase of train loads to carry 80% of the rock off the property. This can risk road safety and endanger many people due to increased traffic and potential wrecks. 

Moreover, the environmental impact cannot be overstated. The natural beauty and ecological balance of our area will be under threat. The noise pollution, dust emission, and alteration of the landscape will adversely impact the wildlife that call this area their home. The increased traffic from heavy machinery and trucks will strain our rural roads and potentially endanger pedestrians, including our children.

Local economies could also suffer. As a community that relies on agriculture and local produce, our very means of subsistence is at risk. The rock quarry could contaminate the watershed, affecting crop yields and the health of our livestock. This could lead to an economic downturn for many families who depend on farming and livestock for their livelihoods.

This development threatens not just the environment but the very fabric of our community. We, as a united front, must preserve the integrity and safety of our locality. We owe it to our children and future generations to protect the land that provides us so much, both emotionally and materially.
