Stop the Purging of Providence Faculty

Stop the Purging of Providence Faculty
The Issue
Dear Rep. Joseph McNamara,
We the undersigned are writing to request you execute whatever powers are available to your portfolio, via the Crowley Act, as Chair of the House Education Committee, so as to do the following:
- Order the Commissioner of Education to rescind any and all Letters of Nonrenewal to all Providence school teachers, and particularly the multiple LGBTQ+ faculty members that now enter a job market where school board politics are inflected with greater levels of anti-queer bigotry owing to the efforts of local Trump-friendly extremists like Nicole Solas and Mike Stenhouse;
- Publish any and all reports or findings pertinent to the internal investigation addressing the so-called "whistleblowers letter" regarding the job performance and worksite conduct of Joan Jackson, in particular concern of her documented anti-Black statements to subordinates wherein she described an employee as "my slave";
- Order the Superintendent to disclose any and all instances of when he was apprised of such conduct, a corresponding paper record, and demonstrable positive steps at job performance by his subordinate Joan Jackson;
- Grant expert testimonial by Dr. Shawgi Tell of Nazareth College, author of Charter School Report Card, who has studied the school privatization project and has professional research insights regarding the goals and desires of Ms. Jackson and those of her ilk;
- Subpoena any and all evaluation rubrics or administrator guides authored in order to justify Professional Evaluation score reductions and assignment of Professional Improvement Plan (PIPs) to faculty who might otherwise not merit such scoring;
- Subpoena testimony of Ms. Jackson and the Superintendent so as to ascertain precisely what justifies these job terminations.
We the undersigned are both Constituents as well as Faculty and other concerned stakeholders. We believe the Commissioner has squandered the opportunity of the Crowley Act. We require accountability.
