STOP the PUMP TRACK at Moulton Meadows in Arch Beach Heights, Laguna Beach

STOP the PUMP TRACK at Moulton Meadows in Arch Beach Heights, Laguna Beach
The Issue
We, the overwhelming majority of residents of Arch Beach Heights (ArchBeachUnited.com) in Laguna Beach, vehemently oppose the proposed bike pump track at Moulton Meadows Park and any location within city limits by any residential home sites.
The approval process was fundamentally flawed. Only a small number of households were notified, while the majority of impacted neighbors were left uninformed. Outside special-interest groups, such as the Orange County Mountain Bike Association, have publicly claimed credit for “sealing the deal” — even while misrepresenting neighborhood support. In reality, over 100 (and growing) of the closest adjacent neighbors are opposed, and many had no idea a “final vote” was taking place.
Beyond the procedural failures, a pump track would permanently damage the peaceful, open-space character of Moulton Meadows, disrupt wildlife habitat, increase fire risk, noise, traffic, and turn a neighborhood park into a regional attraction for bikes, scooters, and skateboards.
We strongly urge that the City Council:
1.) Suspend and rescind any approval of the pump track.
2.) Provide full transparency, including all records and communications related to this project.
3.) Re-open the process with proper notice to all affected residents.
4.) Conduct a formal environmental impact assessment before taking any further action.
Along with this petition, Arch Beach United has launched ArchBeachUnited.com to share information and document the flawed process by which this project was approved.
We respectfully urge the Council to protect the integrity of our process, our neighborhood, and our open space by halting this flawed and underhandedly approved project.
