The Issue

As a resident of Addie's Pond, I am deeply concerned about the Cobb County Department of Transportation's proposal to construct a roundabout at the entrance of our community. This "proposed intersection improvement," slated for the junction of West Sandtown Road and Addie Pond Way, presents serious concerns for residents of Addie's Pond and neighboring communities.

Addie's Pond is a long-established neighborhood with a close-knit community feel, and the sole entrance to our neighborhood is at risk of being significantly altered. The construction of a roundabout at this critical entrance point threatens not only the character of our neighborhood but also the safety and ease of access for residents, visitors, and emergency vehicles.

While the intention behind the proposed roundabout may be to alleviate traffic issues, we believe that this solution does not adequately address the problem area at the intersection of Irwin Road and Villa Rica Road, which requires more thoughtful attention to improve traffic flow and community safety. Alternative traffic solutions exist that could be more effective and less invasive. For example, implementing traffic calming measures at more critical intersections, enhancing signage, or modifying traffic signal timing can be viable options to better manage traffic without disrupting neighborhood entrances.

We respectfully request the Cobb County Department of Transportation to dismiss the current plan and consider other measures that better address the broader traffic concerns. Let your voice be heard by signing this petition and urging the DOT to develop an alternative solution that preserves and protects Addie's Pond and benefits all residents of the surrounding communities.
