If the project goes forward as designed, any sound bleed from the apartments, roof deck and balconies will impact our ability to present live performances and events. In essence, it impacts our ability to survive as a community theater. The Marsh Theater has been serving the Mission District community since 1990, we operate seven days a week between the hours of 9:00 am and 11:00 pm. We present 400 shows annually on our two stages, daily classes and workshops for youth and adults.

As a friend of The Marsh, I oppose the plan to build a five-story,
fifty-five foot, twelve unit apartment building at 1050 Valencia (The former
site of Spork Restaurant) directly next to The Marsh, a breeding ground for
new performance.

I respectfully request that you reject the proposed poorly designed plans
for the project and ask the developer to submit plans that mitigate the
potentially devastating impact of sound bleed, parking and the loss of light
and ventilation on this nonprofit theater which has been serving the Mission
District community since 1990; annually presenting 400 performances,
workshops and year-round classes for youth.

Any negative impact on The Marsh caused by the proposed project is a loss to
our community.

planning commission meeting on Thursday, September 6, 2012 in Room 400 of
