I am a concerned resident of the Clark Pleasant Community School district in Greenwood, Indiana. The proposed development of a Buc-ee's at the location of I-65 and Worthsville Road will severely impact families and our community at large. 

Traffic is already a nightmare in our area, with major conglomerates like FedEx, Amazon, and other distribution hubs contributing to the congestion. Adding a massive Buc-ee's into the mix will only exacerbate traffic woes, leading to increased delays and heightened risk during children's school commutes, as well as the general work population.  

 It threatens the safety and well-being of our children at the three schools across the interstate housing Preschool through 8th grade. These students currently rely on school buses and personal vehicles to travel to and from educational institutions and after-school activities. Additionally, the expected increase in emissions from the likely surge in traffic will harm our community's air quality, affecting the health of our children and residents. 

The traffic study done by the City of Greenwood is not accurate and does not do the increased traffic justice. The traffic study expects 2,000 additional vehicles a day while a simple Google search has the number at 11,000.  A safe bet would be  in the middle with 6-7,000 per day. 
Because of the already established distribution centers, Main Street and County Line are pushed to their max with Worthsville being the back up route for area residents.

The City of Greenwood spent 10 million dollars on a sports complex located next to the schools that brings in 70,000 visitors a year.  Traffic woes will worsen once baseball/softball season starts.  These children and spectators will also be breathing in the increased emissions.  The traffic study referenced above does not include numbers for the sports complex.

The proposed street rendering has vehicles from Buc-ee's exiting onto 250 E.  This is not a "new road". It is an existing road that many commuters, high school students and the community use to access school and various activities. 

Not only does the environmental impact concern us, but the economic implications are also distressing. The introduction of a Buc-ee's is poised to decrease local property values, affecting the financial security and future of many homeowners in our community. This proposal blatantly contradicts the City of Greenwood's Comprehensive Plan, which was designed to ensure sustainable development and growth that preserves the quality of life for its residents. 

We must take a stand against this development for the sake of our children, our environment, and our community's future. Our local infrastructure is not equipped to handle the additional burden that such a large business will impose. We need to hold our city officials accountable to the promises made in the Comprehensive Plan and advocate for responsible developments that respect the needs and wellbeing of all residents.
