Stop the Proposed 20-Unit Development at 32nd & Pacific, Omaha

Stop the Proposed 20-Unit Development at 32nd & Pacific, Omaha
The Issue
Every neighborhood tells a story, and in the core of Omaha, NE, the Hanscom Park community shares its own. A place filled with history, authenticity, and charm, our community is on the brink of facing significant changes due to the proposed construction of a 20-unit apartment complex at the intersection of 32nd & Pacific Street.
Such development threatens to disrupt our quiet, residential streets, bringing an influx of traffic to an area already struggling with congestion. As residents who cherish our community’s wellbeing, we foresee a myriad of negative consequences. For instance, local children, who rely on safe access to their bus stop, may find this access compromised, posing potential safety risks.
Furthermore, the introduction of this complex can lead to a reduction in our already limited street parking, making daily life more challenging for residents. Construction noise and pollution over an extended period could also diminish our quality of life, affecting daily tranquility and posing health concerns, especially for the vulnerable.
Beyond practical disruptions, the proposed development threatens the historical beauty and authenticity that define Hanscom Park. Our neighborhood is a tapestry of Omaha’s rich past, and altering its landscape would be a disservice to the legacy we strive to preserve and pass down.
Rather than the development of such a large complexity, adding affordable single-family homes such as townhomes or condominiums would be much more accustom to the needs of those who reside in the Hanscom Park neighborhood.
We urge the Omaha city planners and developers to reconsider this proposal, taking into account the voices of those who live around and cherish this community. Residents of Omaha, friends, and supporters, join us in protecting the integrity of Hanscom Park. Sign this petition to oppose the development of the 20-unit apartment complex at 32nd & Pacific Street and help us keep our neighborhood a harmonious and vibrant place for all.
We welcome you to join us in attending the Omaha City Council meeting that's being held on Tuesday, November 4th at 2:00pm CST located in the Legislative Chambers of the Omaha/Douglas County Civic Center, to express these concerns with the decision makers of this development.
