Stop the proposal to eat guinea pigs in Pembrokeshire
The Issue
As a devoted pet owner I am appalled by the recent proposal by the Pembrokeshire council to kill and eat guinea pigs. My very own guinea pigs are like family to me—innocent, sweet creatures who bring nothing but joy and love into my life. They are harmless and deserve our protection, not our harm.
Across the internet many voices have been raised in outrage against this proposed action. Social media platforms and local forums are filled with comments expressing disbelief and anger. This callous proposal not only threatens the lives of these adorable creatures but also endangers the emotional well-being of countless pet owners like myself who see their guinea pigs as beloved pets, not as food.
Guinea pigs have long been regarded as gentle companions. They cause no harm to humans and have even been shown to have therapeutic benefits, often used in animal-assisted therapy to help individuals cope with stress, anxiety, and loneliness. The act of consuming them is not justifiable and is deeply controversial, potentially leading to increased resentment and hostility towards these charming pets.
We need to take a stand against this inhumane proposal. Instead of targeting guinea pigs, we should focus on promoting animal welfare and education. The community and country should be encouraged to embrace the love and companionship that these animals offer, not to view them as a source of food.
Join me in urging the Pembrokeshire council to reconsider their stance. Together, we can show that our community values compassion and kindness towards all creatures, great and small. Let us protect our pets and preserve the unique bond we share with them as they should only be pets.
Please sign this petition to halt the proposal to kill and eat guinea pigs in Pembrokeshire and encourage alternative actions that respect and cherish our animal companions.
