Stop the proposal of development at Pennybridge Lane car park

The Issue

Petition re resident’s disagreement with the proposal below

Trafford working in partnership with MSV (Mosscare St Vincents) are proposing a development of 12 ‘next steps’ housing on the carpark at the rear of Shawe View. The housing will accommodate adults who are homeless.

Whilst it is appreciated that such developments are needed, and the proposed residents in need of support the proposed site is not suitable.

Residents are concerned that the local infrastructure cannot accommodate such a development with parking already causing major issues within this locality.

Residents already have to cope with parking from 2 schools, a football club, a sports field, a large park and many residents who do not have drives to park their cars on. Any further traffic and parking will add to the already dangerous and inflammatory situation.

The proposed site is to be placed on a car park that is regularly full of cars, due to events, football, and walkers, these cars will then park on the residential streets. Ambulances have already struggled to gain access to the streets when needed.

The residents have the potential to bring to the area an element of risk, whether this be in regards to a contextual safeguarding risk, the risk of groups of people with addictions, gathering together, in an area that is heavily populated with vulnerable elderly people, and in very close proximity to 2 schools.

The transient nature of the residents will mean that there will be a lot of people joining the community for short periods with the potential of having no investment in the community or regards for residents’ concerns when raised.

Immediate action is necessary If you would like to register your disagreement with the proposal discussed above please sign the petition.
