Cornwall Council plans to privatise the parking on Kitto's Field & numerous other car parks by using a tender system to the highest bidder. These car parks will be monitored by Automatic Number Plate Recognition cameras, ANPR's. This system will be a 24 hours, 7 days a week, 52 weeks of the year operation to maximise the monies taken. The car parks are classed as -

1. Sites chosen are NOT in strategic locations.
2. Sites that help traffic management or would act as a public transport hub.

Kitto's Field car park is right in the centre of town & so very strategically placed & next to our only supermarket style shop, Pengelly's, which has only 4 parking spaces, & just how would it assist traffic management or act as a transport hub ?

At the moment the car park fulfills the needs of the locals & holidaymakers alike,  & when the slow season comes it benefits the community by winter closing times. There are no advantages to the community in this money making proposal, therefore not benefiting Porthleven at all.

Please back this petition, send this proposal back to Truro for reconsideration & keep our Porthleven free from big brother cameras.
