The issue

Port Adelaide was promised ship building jobs, not a nuclear waste dump!

On the 11th of October 2024, the Labor Government passed the Australian Naval Nuclear Power Safety Bill which designated the Osborne Naval Shipyard to be a nuclear dump zone.

This bill was passed without any community consultation or support and was passed with the support of the opposition.

This will allow material that is toxic and emits radiation to be stored in our community, which is a population centre.

No one likes the idea of nuclear waste - but it SHOULD NOT be dumped on the LeFevre Peninsula where people live, work and play.

Our communities health and environment is at risk.

Australia has not managed to find long-term management options for low-level waste.

In the future, any intermediate-level waste will require isolation and containment for hundreds of years.

We are calling on Defence Minister, Richard Marles MP, to find another location to store nuclear waste.

We are calling on our local member of parliament, Mark Butler MP to support our communities call to prevent nuclear waste from being dumped on the Lefevre Peninsula.
