Stop the plans for the construction of a data center in Blue Island
The Issue
My name is Nono Pessoa , I moved here with my husband we bought a house, this is a permanent thing. . I am reaching out to you, my fellow residents, because I am deeply concerned about the proposal to build a data center in our community. This isn't just a matter of personal inconvenience—it's about the wellbeing of everyone who calls Blue Island home. I am extremely sensitive to noise already and I can not live in a surrounding of constant droning and vibration and neither should you.
Like many of you, we chose to live here for its peaceful environment . Unfortunately, the noise pollution and vibrations that accompany large data centra is devastating , and every homeowner should have a right to be heard as leaving will not be that easy , because the value of our house will strongly diminish so selling , in case anyone would want to buy a house here at all by that time. The adverse effects of noise pollution on physical and mental health are well documented, including increased stress levels, sleep disturbances, and potential cardiovascular and metabolic issues

In addition to noise, data centers consume enormous amounts of energy and water. (and people near data centers see their electric bills spike because of it) This strains our local resources and contributes to environmental degradation. Furthermore, they generate a significant amount of electronic waste, posing a threat to our local ecosystem. Blue Island is known for its lush, natural scenery and robust ecosystem, which could all be put at risk due to this project.
Moreover, the economic benefits often touted by corporations rarely match the reality for local communities. The jobs created are usually few in number and require specialized skills that many local residents may not possess. This means that the promised economic boosts don't necessarily benefit our community directly. Instead, the corporate gains outweigh any advantages for us.
WE HAVE RIGHTS Nobody will buy our house when we decide not to want to live in hell, and no this particular project will not be any different than the others.
