For those going to their precinct caucuses Tuesday night, you might consider offering the following resolution. If enough people offer the resolution, it could make its way into the respective parties’ platforms.
Resolution
Minnesota offers recreational trails for many users – snowmobilers, ATVers, 4 wheel drive enthusiasts, off road motorcyclists, horseback riders, road bicyclists, hikers, and mountain bikers. The state’s tradition of offering opportunities for all trail users at their own select trails is being threatened by forcing the volunteer-developed and maintained MN Valley mountain bike and hiking trail to also be a paved road bike trail. Paving this natural-surface trail would be a huge waste of taxpayer-dollars because it would be damaged and have to be repaired following almost yearly flooding. Therefore, be it resolved that taxpayer dollars not be wasted and the volunteer-developed and maintained MN Valley Trail be preserved as a natural surface mountain bike and hiking trail.
