Last Thursday night was the City of Bloomington Planning Commission's meeting that included the presentation of their information on their MRVSP, public input time and the vote. Those supporting this effort to SAVE IT....NOT PAVE IT...as well as those significantly less concerned about the environmental impact (the proponents) of a 10' wide, 2' shouldered asphalt trail through a 30-100' wide corridor.....that's from the FAQ document the City provided by the way.....packed the house. It was obvious that both sides of the matter were well represented and well prepared. In the end the City spoke, the proponents spoke, the opponents spoke and then the Planning Commission voted unanimously to support the passing of the MRVSP. We do appreciate the Planning Commission going through the motions in order to make those opposed feel like they were being heard. Politics as usual is not dead in the City of Bloomington.
