Here is a link to a letter to the Editor of the Bloomington Sun Current from Rep Ann Lenczewski. There are some items that are not quite as the are explained in the letter. Please take a look and write your elected officials.

Here's a response from trail volunteer Josh Leonard.
River Valley Trail Response to Legislator’s Letter
I would like to provide some notes on the talking points in the letter to the editor submitted by Representative Lenczewski.
1. The legislation outlined in Minn. Stat. Section 85.015, Subd. 6 does not specify trail surface. A natural trail (current soil) still fits under the legislation.
2. Any paved trail plans will certainly occupy the “best” corridor, leaving only disjointed sections for the natural trail.
3. All groups involved with the MN River Valley wholeheartedly supported the Old Cedar Bridge project. The bridge can also be an access to a natural trail and doesn’t need to be used as another reason to build an expensive and invasive paved trail in a flood plain.
As a long time Bloomington resident and trail volunteer it is my opinion that a well managed natural trail is the best solution for the MN Valley State Trail in Bloomington. It is also great opportunity to learn how natural trails can be a destination, similar to the Superior Hiking Trail.
