Two and a half years ago our family fell in love with a pig. Olivia easily rutted her way into our hearts and has us wrapped around her hoof. She expects daily belly rubs, hours of huggle time, and must be tucked in with her favorite blanket every night. She is an important part of our family and we are her everything.

We lost our country home last fall, in a hurry to relocate we bought a fixer upper in LaValle Wisconsin without checking animal ordinances before we made our purchase. Unfortunately the Village of LaValle lists pigs as prohibited animals, right after hyenas, hippopotami, and rhinoceros. Olivia is our princess piggy and has only known our family since she was 2 months old. Forcing us to surrender her would not only devastate our family but would traumatize Olivia.

We have petitioned the village board to reconsider their ordinance to allow her to stay, unfortunately they seem reluctant. They did grant me the favor of tabling my request until their next board meeting on April 9th. I have just under a month to gather enough material to convince them the error of their prohibitive ordinance. 

I can’t be sure an online petition will move them to change an ordinance they’ve had in place for the last two years, but I am willing to try anything.
