The CISD Board of Trustees recently released a statement about their new policy, “Away for The Day” that states that all cell phone and electronic device usage during the school day is banned for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year. According to the Houston Chronicle that posted an article about this decision, “Trustee Lindsay Dawson said the district’s policy is in line with Texas House Bill 1481. That bill, awaiting Gov. Greg Abbott’s signature, requires school districts to adopt policies prohibiting access to devices such as cellphones, tablets and laptops during school hours. The bill includes exceptions for students who require devices for medical reasons, special education needs or safety-related accommodations.” If you are against this, speak out and stand up for your right to your possessions, and sign this petition to change this decision.
