Stop the Pay Cut at Islington Play Association

The Issue

THIS IS BARBARIC -   THE STAFF AT  5 ISLINGTON ADVENTURE PLAUGROUNDS ARE BEING FORCED TO TAKE A 20 % PAY CUT OR LEAVE. THIS IS EQUVIVALENT TO WORKING A FIVE DAY WEEK FOR FOUR DAYS PAY AND NOW THEY ARE ADOPTING FIRE AND RE HIRE TACTICS The Adventure Playgrounds run by the Islington Play Association are more than just a place of work for those of us who are part of the permanent staff—they serve as a LIFELINE  and a SAFE  SPACE for our CHILDREN and the COMMUNITYS YOUNG PEOPLE.  THIS  proposed 20% pay cut to the permanent staff of this invaluable organisation poses a drastic blow to us all.

Additionally, these playgrounds are pivotal for the development and well-being of our children in Islington, London, UK. They don't just offer a safe place for our kids; they provide a platform for building social skills, physical development, and emotional growth. As per a 2017 report by Fields in Trust, for every £1 spent on parks and playgrounds, an estimated £7 in additional value is generated for health and well-being benefits. The proposal to cut staff's wages by a fifth stands to undermine these very benefits.

In lieu of these dire consequences, it's critical that we challenge this decision and demand an extension to the discussion. We urge the responsible authorities to come to the table and work with us towards a mutually agreeable solution to the financial problems that the Islington Play Association is currently facing.

The well-being of our children, our community, and the stability of our staff are at stake. Let's band together to oppose this pay cut and safeguard the future of our Adventure Playgrounds. Please, sign this petition to insist on a more thoughtful and inclusive approach to the financial challenges of Islington Play Association.
