A law maker in Queens is pushing to install 150 new traffic cameras to automatically ticket vehicles parked illegally, including delivery drivers who have no choice but to double park due to a lack of legal parking spots. This $35 million pilot program unfairly punishes hard-working New Yorkers, small business owners, and essential workers who rely on quick stops to make deliveries, service clients, and keep the city running.

Instead of addressing the root issue—insufficient parking and loading zones—this plan prioritizes revenue over real solutions. It could drive up costs for businesses, slow down services, and make it even harder for professionals like contractors, locksmiths, and couriers to do their jobs.

We call on our elected officials to reject this proposal and instead invest in better infrastructure, expanded loading zones, and common-sense parking reforms that support—not penalize—NYC’s workforce.
