Hello, I'm Lynne MacKay and I'd like to draw your attention to the parking situations we are up against at Luskentyre Cemetery on the Isle of Harris.

Unfortunately since April '23 I have been a regular visitor to the Cemetery and trying to get parked in the designated parking spaces only adds to the emotional visit.

On the fences & gates there are signs which clearly state that the parking spaces are 'RESERVED FOR CEMETERY PATRONS ONLY' and with the gates opening out the way, it means that if Motorhomes and Cars are parked inside and up against these gates, it is therefore impossible to enter.  The local council have put out traffic cones as well to mark out these parking spaces but at times witnessed by others, these have been moved by the disrespectful occupants of these Motorhomes & Cars in order for them to get parked.

With no regard to the surroundings, these people are not only taking up parking spaces for those wishing to pay respects to their loved ones but are using the fences around the Cemetery to dry their towels, wet suits etc.

Some locals don't even go down to the Cemetery during the summer months as those in their Motorhomes are camped outside with music blaring etc.

All I'm asking is that something needs to be done now as each year Harris only gets busier, and this problem is only going to get worse.
