Stop the no junk food on SNAP/EBT

The Issue

There are a few reasons why this should be stopped

  • families that can’t afford birthdays(cake, chips, soda) that’s supposed to be a fun day
  • You could want a treat but you can’t afford it, it would make more sense to put a limit to how many of each junk food item such as 2 sodas per every 2 weeks, candy 1 item every 2 weeks, prepackaged desserts should only be purchased 1 time a month for birthdays/parties and that’s minus the ice cream and popsicles
  • sometimes people deserve a little treat. Families work and work and work and still struggle and SNAP already barely helps because prices are so high now and days. They DESERVE a break
  • I myself, when I was 12-15 I would take the EBT card on my birthday and get a cake and snacks because that was the only thing to make it actually feel like a birthday
