Stop the New Power Line Construction in Salado, TX

The Issue

Living near a power tower is a scary possibility. It's critical for our community, Salado, TX, to address this pressing issue. Although there's no definitive evidence linking serious health issues to living near high-voltage power lines, the potential health risks, especially relating to childhood leukemia, cannot be ignored. Why should we take that chance?

Moreover, the looming presence of power towers does more than just worry families about health. It casts a shadow—both literally and figuratively—on our properties. The visual and noise pollution that emanate from these towering structures can severely dent our property values, making the day-to-day environment less bearable and ultimately reducing the desirability of our beloved village.

The planned power line will stretch from Temple, Texas, cutting through our territory for 190 miles westwards, yet will not even supply energy to our own community of Salado. It is clear that the interests of Salado are being overshadowed by large utility companies that care little about our local ecosystem or community well-being.

Beyond aesthetics and market values, the construction and maintenance of these power lines could potentially disrupt our local ecosystems, impacting soil, water quality, and local wildlife. Is it fair for one of the treasures of Texas, our village of Salado, to bear such unwarranted consequences?

These environmental upheavals make it all the more important to examine alternatives. Investing in underground cabling could mitigate visual havoc, as well as environmental and potential health risks.

Let’s raise our voices and halt this unnecessary development through Salado. Sign this petition to demand safer and more sustainable alternatives that respect our community’s health, property, and environment.
