Downtown Torrance neighborhood is a hidden gem of the South Bay of Los Angeles Our City has been constantly trying to figure out how to give the community what it wants & attract new business while keeping the integrity and charm of Old Torrance. With great restaurants, unique shops, tons of activities to explore like rMartial Arts, Cheer, Pilates, Yoga, Ballet, Theater, Dance and more, it really is no wonder why Red Rifle has been trying to get in for 7 years A Gun Shop wasn’t part of the plan for the project area then and it isn’t now. In fact, the City of Carson, which has been home to Red Rifle since 2012, doesn’t even want firearms sold in their city! TWICE In 2019, Carson City Council tried to move to ban sales but was unsuccessful.
Does the City of Torrance, Community Development Director, Michelle G Ramirez, really think that a Gun shop goes well with the surrounding businesses and plan? That a Gun Shop is what the community wants or needs? Is it “ Advancing a Safe, Accessible and Sustainable Built Environment“? No one really seems to think so….but her. According to Torrance Municipal Code 91.40.4 d) Where the Planning Director determines that a matter is of significant public interest or affects a significant area or portion of the community, that matter shall be referred to the Planning Commission for decision and shall be treated as though it was an appeal from a decision of the Planning Director.
Not sure why that didn’t happen immediately…..we have asked and have received ZERO response

Shall-required

PLEASE NOTE THAT PUBLIC COMMENTS WERE MISSING , FOR WHATEVER REASON, AND REPORTED TO THE CITY. SOME WERE RECOVERED AND INCLUDED IN THE AMENDED REPORT….yet regardless of intent, it seems to be a violation of the Brown Act
Daily Breeze covered this incident Read Here
There are so many wrong things happening here! Not enforcing code, suppression of public comment…and now they want to bring a gun shop into the neighborhood. Preserve history? Or repeat it? Do you know the story of Thomas Keller?
