The Issue

Cobb County, a once peaceful community, is on the brink of facing a colossal change that will not only alter its landscape but threaten the very quality of life its residents have come to cherish. A new data center is set to be constructed in our neighborhood, and its presence promises more harm than good, impacting us all in profound ways.

This massive data center will drain millions of gallons of water daily, an alarming figure that poses a direct threat to our local water resources and environment. At a time when water conservation is more crucial than ever, this development is a step in the wrong direction, threatening the sustainability of our region.

Moreover, the construction of this data center will inevitably lead to a spike in our electricity bills. As local residents, we will unfairly bear the brunt of its massive energy consumption. While these costs rise, the supposed benefits of this data center seem intangible at best and non-existent at worst. It will provide almost no local jobs, leaving our efforts unrecouped.

Perhaps one of the most immediate effects will be the relentless industrial noise, consistently cutting through the peace of our homes. Imagine the constant hum of machinery, making it impossible to enjoy the tranquility of your own backyard.

Furthermore, this development threatens to destroy our neighborhoods in the long term. Our community’s character and serenity are at risk of being overshadowed by this industrial giant, and once they are gone, they cannot be reclaimed.

We recognize the importance of progress and development, but this project poses far too many risks without delivering meaningful benefits to our local community. It's time our voices are heard.

We urge local officials and policymakers to reconsider this development. We advocate for alternative solutions that will offer both economic growth and environmental sustainability, such as investments in green technology or initiatives that promote local small businesses which can create real jobs for residents.

Together, we can protect the heart and soul of Cobb County for current and future generations. Please sign this petition to halt the construction of the new data center and preserve our beloved community.
