The Issue

Growing up in Gretna, Nebraska, I have watched as our farmland has been taken out little by little for new development everywhere.  Now, Nebraska Crossing wants to expand from 40 acres to 1,000, destroying what little farmland we have left.

Not only will they be destroying farmland, but people's homes and land will be affected.  My grandparents' home and land, as well as their neighbors, have been there for over 40 years, creating many irreplaceable memories with their children and grandchildren.  So telling them to sell their homes and find a new place to call home wouldn't be fair.

After speaking with the Mayor of Gretna, I got a little more insight about the plan.  He said that so far, it hasn't been approved and that the owner of the mall might be scaling back the expansion, but so far, the only project that has been approved is the Buc-ees across the street. He also said that if the owner doesn't go through with his plan, other developers might want to develop on the land.

Please help me by signing this petition to keep my grandparents' home and their neighbors' homes safe.
