Hold brands like Wegovy directly accountable for the current semaglutide shortage! Wegovy is advertising use of the drug for the purposes of weight loss, claiming Wegovy is “medication for a condition”, that condition being obesity. In reality, Semaglutide is harmful, and should only be used for diabetes patients. Ozempic is another brand that sells semaglutide, which is not even approved for weight loss usage by the FDA, despite Wegovy having a higher dosage of semaglutide. 

Because of promotions like Wegovy’s of the drug, demand for semaglutide has increased exponentially, making it harder for diabetes patients to access. There are also many “mid-sized” people using the drug to fit an unrealistic skinny beauty standard. For example, celebs like Elon Musk have opened up about using Wegovy to loose weight.

Wegovy’s ads not only contribute to the shortage of semaglutide, but contribute to the guilt obese people feel simply existing in a world that falsely acts as though obesity on the individual level is a problem that needs fixing.
