Nye County School District Transportation has given notice that they are changing the bus stops for our children due to vandalism. The notice indicated that the school district has received complaints from the HOA.  But I ask you this,

Who does the school district work for?  The answer should be us and our students.

Who does the HOA work for?  The answer should be us.

We as taxpayers and homeowners pay them.  Why should our students suffer?

I say the new bus stop locations are not going to fix or solve any issues for the HOA, but will cause parents and students more issues.

I was told that when Burson Ranch was looked at by the school district to determine if bus service was needed to Floyd Elementary, that the current stops were put in place because there are no sidewalks between here and the school but there are sidealks to the current stops. If this is the case, why are we being moved farther away with no sidewalks or walking paths to acess them.

Also, the school district has made one of the new stops at Mickey and Malibu. This 4 way stop has vehicles that constantly run the stop sign which puts our children at risk. Also, their notice says the stop will be at the Southwest corner of this intersection which is still a location with Burson Ranch signage and landscaping, which is what the HOA is saying is being vandalized.

The other location is to be across the street from 5731 Malibu, which is where the honey/egg sign is.  This is also where the crook in the road is. Any speeding car can loose control and cause devastation to our kids standing there. Also, I know I send my kid to school clean, let me have her stand in the poof dirt in that spot, especially after it rains? I think not.

For the middle schoolers, there are times during the school year that it is still dark as night when they are at the bus stop. We shouldn't be sending our kids walking down an unlit road with no sidwalks and expect them to not walk in the road.

I think that should we see any child vandalizing any property while on the way to, from, or at a bus stop,  it should be reported to the transportation department and that/those children should be banned for bus services with proof in the way or photos or videos to prove which child did it. No matter where they move the stops to, these same children that have already caused damage will still have to walk past the old stop and can still cause damage on their way, especially if they are mad that they are having to walk farther.

NYE County, leave our bus stops alone. You don't pay our HOA fees. Our residents and students parents do!
