We are writing to you today regarding an urgent matter concerning our community in Ormeau.

There is a proposed mosque development at 9 Vaughan Drive, Ormeau (LOT 6 RP206965) that is currently under review by the Gold Coast City Council. The application reference number for this development is MCU/2024/513.

The proposed development includes a place of worship, accommodation, a cafe, and childcare facilities, with operating hours from 5:00 AM to 9:30 PM, seven days a week.

It is intended to serve the Muslim/Islamic community.

A few significant local concerns with the proposed mosque is the definite impact on the already exhausted traffic infrastructure, the proposed development plans are to use the current roads without any immediate upgrades to our already congested roads, other factors are disturbing the peace, impact on local businesses and childcare centres, Safety concerns, zoning misalignment and visual impacts to name but only a few.

We have until July 23 to lodge all objection submissions to the Gold Coast City Council to prevent this mosque development from being approved.

To streamline this process and facilitate a collective effort, a petition has been created. We understand that navigating the council's website to lodge submissions can be challenging, and this petition aims to simplify the process for everyone who wishes to object.

We urge you to act immediately and add your signature to this petition to formally object to the mosque development being approved by the council. Please provide all relevant information required by the Gold Coast City Council to ensure your submission is approved.
