Stop the Michigan DNR from adding several animals to the "nuisance" list

The Issue

On May 11, 2023 The Michigan DNR will propose to add several animals to the "nuisance" list which will allow home owners to kill without a permit, if they feel the animal is destructive. From Michiganradio.org "Proposed regulations for nuisance animals would tighten the definition of when animals could be killed without a permit and then adds cottontail rabbits, fox squirrels, gray squirrels, red squirrels, ground squirrels — sometimes called chipmunks — opossums, weasels, muskrats, and beavers to the list." These animals are part of an important eco system and should not be killed without express permission by the DNR and proper permit. Killing these animals without permit will surely impact their populations and have potential negative consequences for the environment.
